As we approach opening night, join us every Thursday for our special TRIBE MEMBER THURSDAY feature! Each week, obviously on Thursday, you can join us for a little Q&A with some of the cast!
Our first Q&A features the one and only Paige Scott!
Q: What’s been the most exciting (or just your favorite) part of the HAIR rehearsal process so far?
I love the choreography rehearsals. It has been a while since I was in a show with heavy movement so I love when I am given the opportunity to shake my tail feathers. Kenny is really chill and makes things easy. There are really no wrong moves when you are a part of a hippy tribe. There is something very healing about free form dancing. It has got me out of my shell physically and mentally.
Q: Who do you think should come out to see HAIR?
If you have a bone to pick with ‘the man.’ If you have a wild past that you want to relive. The possibilities are endless really.
Q: Since this is your first BOBDIREX show, what’s it like to work with Bob Harbin?
Bob has been a treat. He knows what he wants. He gets positive results. He has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone which I needed. We are also both Scorpios and understand it’s mysteries.
Q: What brought you into the theatre/performing arts scene here in Indianapolis?
After earning my degree I moved back to Indy after a brief contract in Ithaca, New York. I thought my stay in Indy would be temporary. I started auditioning for community theaters just to have something to do while I regroup. After Indy hosted the Super Bowl- it felt like the arts community in the city blew up. I began stumbling on people who really had something special to offer. People that I wouldn’t have known otherwise if I had actually regrouped and moved back to Ithaca.
Q: You’ve done a lot of theatre all over town – Footlite Musicals, EclecticPond Theatre Company, Q Artistry – how is this show different from shows/roles you’ve done in the past?
I usually play maniacs. The shows I have done prior have required that mentality. With pieces like Rocky Horror, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Zirkus Grimm it is the understanding that the players are the maniacs and the spectators are sane. With Hair it is almost the exact opposite. Claude, Berger, Sheila and the Tribe are the sane ones and the world they are in is the maniac causing disorder (government, war, ignorance). I haven’t felt the need to give anyone the ‘crazy eye’ like I have in other shows.
Q: After HAIR, what’s next on your calendar?
I will be in a comedy called “The Great Bike Race” at IndyFringe in August.
